If you experience an issue with Adobe Illustrator, includingwith any Astute Graphics plugin, you may be asked to reset your AdobeIllustrator preferences. This can be done by following the guidelinesbelow.

  1. How To Reset Adobe Trial

Use it until trial expires. After installation go to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Product Name and open AMT folder. Open Application.xml and look this line: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Change the number to some absolutely random (but with same length) Enjoy! If you use it and like it, buy it. I am sure you would be happy for someone to buy a shirt, wear it and return it, then buy a new one from you 7 days later, and repeat and repeat and repeat. Imagine comparing a digital limitless product to a t-shirt. Go to the file location whichever adobe app you want to reset and look for a file called Application.xml inside of that file you will need to look for a trial serial number (it will be labeled) and just change one random digit and then you're ready to go with another 7 days!

Notethat this process will reset all your panels, etc. in Illustrator, but thesemay be re-applied and set to your workflow manually once more.

  • All you have to do, to extend your trial period, is change number in TrialKey element in application.xml. This file is located in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop/AMT. You can navigate there with this command: cd /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop./AMT.
  • 1 Correct Answer. Adobe reset the trial experience for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Muse CC only. Be kind and respectful, give credit to the original source of content, and search for duplicates before posting. Thanks for the quick response.

It's good practice, very easy to do and solves a lot of issueswith Illustrator and Astute Graphics' plugins.

What do I need to do after resetting my Illustrator Preferences?

Upon starting Illustrator for the first time after resetting yourIllustrator Preferences, the usual start-up windows will re-appearincluding the native application 'welcome' window and Astute Graphics'warning that you need to re-enable the Advanced toolbar to see all thetools. There may be options to tick to ensure these do not show again, otherwise they will automatically be marked to not re-appear until youdelete your settings or preferences again.

Beyond this, other tasks may include:

  1. Re-open and dock native and plugin panels (found under the Window > .. menu)

  2. Save custom UI workspaces

  3. Redefine any custom keypresses and save these

  4. Readjust any custom Illustrator Preferences (Illustrator > Preferences > …)

  5. For users of Illustrator 2019 and above, panels may not scale correctly first time - please refer to our UI Panel Scaling issue troubleshooting article for full information

Typically, all this will take 5 minutes, depending on how far you've customized Illustrator.
